Trying to trace Newman family from Ohio

I am trying to find out details from my maternal grandfather’s side. I know that they where Cherokee, that his mother was full blooded and her name was Ruth. My grandfather’s name was Harry “Bud” Newman. He lived in Dayton Ohio but in the 60s lived in Adams County Ohio. I don’t have a lot of other information and I would really like to learn more about his side and where we came from.
