Born in Sallisaw, Ok in 1950. I was highly influenced by my grandmother (who lived to be 93 summers). She tried to teach me some of the old ways. She was Cherokee and Choctaw and very proud of the fact, just as I am. I started piecing quilt tops in 1991. I learned to do Seminole piecework the same year. I started entering the Homecoming Art Contest at the Heritage Center about ten years ago. I was proud to win 1st place one year with a small quilt called The Dance of the Bear. It was an original design. I have won ribbons for many others that have been sold through out the United States threw the Hertiage Center. The quilts I make I have them machine quilted, but I can hand quilt and I do that from time to time. I add some bead work to most of my quilts. I make small to bed size quilts and I love to use some of my original designs. I entered two quilts into the Sisters Quilt Show in Oregon and they both sold to two bed and breakfast’s in Washington state. Although I didn’t win a ribbon it was a wonderful experience. Ten years ago I started working with gourds and I do a lot of gourd art. Many of these have sold threw the Heritage Center also. Now that I am retired I plan to be able to get a lot more art work done.
