Andrew Rhoades

August 26, 2014 by Christina Berry

tloI have Exhibited at the 2009 Trail of Tears Art Show, and also in the 2009 Language exhibit at the Cherokee Heritage Center. Also, I have been published in the Generations: Cherokee Language Through Art book. My works are available at The Cherokee National Museum and the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum.

Notably, I acquired the taste for sculpting, painting, and graphics while attending school at The University of Tennessee. Throughout my life I have always been one of those obsessed people who sees something, natural or artificial, and feels driven to change the lines and represent the concept in my view.

Furniture has been my greatest outlet throughout my life. Although, as a Native American, I learned leather craft and beadwork at an early age as most do. The ultimate character styles of my works are constantly changing themes due to continual experimentation and advancement through learning.

I have a BA in History from the University of Texas at Austin and have been working with Cherokee genealogy and history records for over 20 years. When I’m not working on All Things Cherokee, I keep busy with writing, photography, beadwork, and a massive home renovation project.
